  • 2The company reported strong 2023 financial results with significant revenue and operating profit growth, and unveiled a new shareholder return policy for the next three years.

Naver announced a comprehensive 'On-Service AI' strategy at its 27th annual general meeting, aiming to organically integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) across all its services and introduce 'AI Agents' across all service domains within the year. This strategy emphasizes transforming data, infrastructure, and service capabilities into tangible business value by enabling AI to understand user intent and complete tasks seamlessly, thereby securing a leading position in the AI era.

Key initiatives include:

  • AI Agent Expansion: The 'AI Shopping Agent', introduced in February, will be expanded across all shopping services by year-end. Specialized 'Vertical Agents' tailored for specific domains such as search, shopping, finance, and health will be sequentially enhanced. Notably, a 'Health Agent' is planned for launch this year, designed to provide a connected experience by linking information search with product, location, and service selection.
  • Full Loop Platform Development: Naver aims to extend its online success to offline realms by completing a 'Full Loop Platform'. This involves increased investment in logistics and physical touchpoints to ensure a seamless user journey from initial search to purchase, visitation, and utilization of services.
  • Enterprise AI Business Scaling: Leveraging its 'Sovereign AI' strategy, Naver will significantly expand its enterprise AI business into security-critical sectors, including public services, finance, and defense.
  • Internal Productivity Enhancement: A primary goal for the current year is to double productivity across all job functions—including development, planning, design, and research—through the extensive use of AI. This is projected to halve the time required for projects, accelerate execution, and ultimately enhance corporate value.

Financially, Naver reported a consolidated revenue of 12.035 trillion KRW and an operating profit of 2.2081 trillion KRW for the previous year, marking year-over-year increases of 12.1% and 11.6% respectively.

In terms of shareholder returns, Naver implemented a new policy committing 25% to 35% of the average consolidated free cash flow from the preceding two fiscal years towards cash dividends or share buyback and cancellation initiatives over the next three years.

The CEO, Choi Soo-yeon, underscored AI's pivotal role as a transformative force determining corporate competitiveness, stating Naver's commitment to delivering differentiated AI agent experiences based on its proven AI integration across diverse areas.

During the general meeting, shareholders also approved the appointment of Kim Hee-cheol (CFO) as an internal director, the re-appointment of Kim Yi-bae as an external director, certain amendments to the articles of association (including the deletion of the staggered voting exclusion clause), and the approval of the limit for director compensation.
